Having completed a BSc in Nutrition and Dietetics at Robert Gordon Institute of Technology in Aberdeen I worked in clinical practice for several years. I have worked in many areas of the UK (Gloucester, Nottingham, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Fife) with my clinical roles primarily in the area of nutrition support in oncology, intensive care, neuro-rehabilitation and gastroenterology specialties. I am an active member of the British Dietetic Association including being a the clinical lead for research and audit for the Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition Group (PENG), a committee member of the BDA validation committee and a member of the prescribing working group. I joined 麻豆影院 as the MSc Dietetics Programme Leader in October 2003 and teach on a wide variety of modules in both the UG to PG programmes delivered by the DNBS subject area. I completed my PhD in 2014 which investigated the relationship of levels of habitual activity with functional ability, body composition, dietary intake, inflammation, and quality of life in older adults.

- Screening for and management of undernutrition, sarcopenia, sarcopenic obesity and frailty
- Managing sarcopenic obesity through diet and exercise interventions
- Relationship between function and dexterity in older people and ability to open food packaging.
- Optimising nutritional intakes and nutritional status in older adults
- Identification of poor nutritional status in vulnerable older adults
- Visual identification of nutritional status
- Development of Evidence-based Practice Guidelines for the Nutritional Management of Malnutrition in the Adult Patients Across the Continuum of Care.

The teaching I deliver has a nutrition and dietetic focus and includes professional aspects of dietetics, pathophysiology of disease and dietary and nutritional management of disease (e.g. nutrition support, diabetes, inflammatory bowel disease, nutrition in older adults, dysphagia and cancer). I teach practical nutrition classes which include practical cooking classes and seminars. In addition I have a responsibility to for coordinating the masters dissertation module along with supervision of students undertaking their honours and masters projects.
