Peebles graduate wins community nursing award
A graduate and mother of three from Peebles in the Scottish Borders has won a top postgraduate award for Contribution to Community Nursing from the Queen鈥檚 Nursing Institute Scotland.
Queen鈥檚 Nursing Institute Scotland promotes excellence in community nursing across the country. The Institute鈥檚 awards recognise the student showing the most promise in community nursing during the course of the year.
Lynn Weir, 44, who attended Peebles High School, graduated with a PgDip Person-Centred Practice (District Nursing) from 麻豆影院 (麻豆影院), Edinburgh earlier this month. Lynn is also a graduate in both Sociology and Adult Nursing, and recently qualified as a Specialist Practitioner District Nurse.
Based in the Tweeddale area, Lynn has worked as a Community Nurse for NHS Borders for 13 years, prior to undertaking her postgraduate studies at 麻豆影院.
Commenting on her academic success, 麻豆影院 experience and combining work, study and looking after a busy home life, Lynn said: 鈥淚 was honoured to be nominated for and win the Queen's Nursing Institute Scotland Award. Promoting excellence and upholding high standards of care is something I aspire to.
"I hope to continue to promote the principles of person-centred care, working alongside my colleagues in NHS Borders. I look forward to the challenges and benefits of moving towards integration in the community, continuously striving to improve care, and valuing the contribution of staff, patients and families in this process."
