Who we are

This is the privacy statement of 麻豆影院 in relation to Photography and Video/Audio Recording. This privacy statement explains how and why we record photographs, films and audio content and the purposes for which we use them.

麻豆影院 (麻豆影院) is a Data Controller in terms of the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA) and the UK General Data Protection Regulations. The University is registered with the . Our Registration Number is Z6013920.

The type of personal data we collect

We collect and process the following types of personal data: 

  • Photographic and recorded images 
  • Name and personal identifiers of the subject of the image/recording 
  • Voice and opinion where audio is recorded 

Special category data as defined by data protection legislation (eg health data) may be provided by you in the course of filming or may be evident from the image or audio captured. We sometimes collect special category data when we run a specific campaign and would always seek your explicit consent to process this information. 

How we collect your personal data

Photographs and recordings may be taken by 麻豆影院 staff on our campus, and at external events and venues. We also collect information directly from you where it is student generated content and from third parties where they are acting on our behalf as a processor.  As well as capturing your image other personal data may be collected for the purposing of storing or captioning the image/recording. 

Why we collect and use your personal data

The purpose and legal basis for processing your personal data is as follows:

  • Consent will be sought in appropriate circumstances, for example, we usually ask this when we are asking you to act as a student model or partake in a case study.
Legitimate interest
  • The University has a commercial interest in using photographs and films in promoting the function and activities of the University, for example in marketing and social media campaigns, and for press and broadcast use. 

Special Categories of Personal Information 

We sometimes process special category personal data. Where we process special category data or criminal conviction data we are required to identify an additional legal basis for processing. Special category data is held in the strictest confidence and only shared on a strict need to know basis.

  • We may collect information about ethnicity or health when running specific case studies.
  • You may reveal special category data as part of a recording.

How we store your personal data 

The University will manage your information securely and will restrict access to only those who need to use it in the course of their duties. The University will put in place technical and organisational measures necessary to ensure the security of your information.

We will only retain your information as long as is reasonably necessary for the purpose it was gathered and in accordance with 麻豆影院鈥檚 Retention Schedule. We may be required to keep some of your personal information permanently for historical and archival purposes.

If we are processing your data on the basis of consent, and you later revoke your consent, we will remove the relevant photographs and recordings from our files, but we will not be able to withdraw any relevant print publications that remain in circulation.

Sharing your personal data

The University will only disclose your information to third parties where we:

  • Have a legal basis to do so under the UK General Data Protection Regulation; or
  • Are required to under a statutory or regulatory obligation; or
  • You have consented by filling out our disclosure form. 

Reasons we may share your personal data include: 

  • With third party suppliers to produce adverts and prospectuses and corporate literature 
  • Online on our website or social media channels
  • Media case studies
  • Sector-wide campaigns

Profiling or automated decision making

We do not use profiling or automated decision-making processes. Some processes are semi-automated but a human decision maker will always be involved before any decision is reached in relation to you.

Your rights relating to your personal information

Under data protection law, you have rights including:

Your right of access - You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.

Your right to rectification - You have the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.

Your right to erasure - You have the right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances. Please note this will not be possible where your image has been used in print e.g. the prospectus. 

Your right to restriction of processing - You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.

Your right to object to processing - You have the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.

Your right to data portability - You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances.

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you.

Changes to our privacy statement

We keep this privacy statement under regular review and will place any updates on this website. We will publish any changes we make to this data protection policy on our website.
